Week 2: Art & the City

In this week's Critical Theory Reading Group, Human Sciences partners with students from UT's Urban Planning program to bring you a presentation and discussion on Tactical Urbanism. Guest speaker Jolene Holland will discuss the theoretical foundation of guerilla tactics and public space strategy. Drawing from the work of Regional Planner Sophia Michelle Benner, our group will consider scope, scale, and structure of urban development and think through possibilities for spontaneous interventions.

*suggested focuses include Introduction - discussion of spontaneous interventions (p.3 - 7) + Literature Review - breakdown of key terms and theory
